when he struggles to hit the note in the sing the sorrow video, how do u know that wasnt the 20th or 30th take? anyone’s voice would get tired by then.

Of course that’s cause. No doubt. And like you said they are hit or miss.
I agree with you, he’s obviously not as good as he used to be. However, as you’ve probably heard before, it’s most likely before of the surgery he’s had to remove a cyst growing on his vocal chords from screaming improperly. Such a shame, he was a great vocalist – he’s still a good vocalist, but usually his performances are hit or miss.
I saw them in Oklahoma and Austin in November. He can’t hit that high note. He can’t even hit the high note in Great Disappointment. Have YOU see them live lately? Have you see the making of sing the sorrow where he struggles to hit the notes? He can’t hit them to perfection anymore, its always shaky and he’s always struggling for air it seems. Don’t get me wrong, I love AFI, but I’m not going to suck their dick and give praise when its not deserved.

No, there is definitely something going on with this recording. Who knows if the band had anything to do with it, though. I’ve noticed MTV “fixes” bands’ live performances a lot, and I hate it.
Honestly though, what is it with people saying, “Oh, Davey can’t sing like he used to?” REALLY??? Have you even seen him lately? His voice has never been STRONGER than it is now!

We didn’t hear him hit any notes in 2004, his voice was messed up by then.
There’s two other guys in the band, you know….it’s not just Davey and Jade’s band.
He doesn’t sound like this anymore. His voice is deeper so he can’t hit those high notes as well as he could in ‘02-’04.
